Starlings Production. Day 7.

A week passes very quickly...

One thing that I've learned from the first week of development is that if you take a break, or call it a day earlier...it sure makes the next day pass quicker than you wanted. All in all though, I think it's been a really productive week, lots has been modeled, and lots has been textured...

In terms of last weeks list of what I had planned to do, most of it has been achieved, and what hasn't been completed, wa
s because I thought of something else that had more priority...so not too bad. I basically took the weekend off, so today I got back into modeling the bridge structure, and building up my scene. The small village scene will now be built upon to become the setting for the trailer that I'm currently story boarding. As well as the game production, I've been trying to get some publicity around the title, but it's difficult to get publicity for something that mostly exists in my head, or in a very basic form.... I think that producing the trailer will help to gather some outside interest.

Tomorrow I'll be putting some of the assets into Unity3d and hopefully get some code working for flying around the environment..then it's just carrying on with creating the assets. Also, I need to come up with a more interesting graphical style.

At the moment I'm texturing from high-res photographs, they're coming out great, but it's near on impossible to try and create a hyper-realistic game environment... it'll make things more interesting...and hide the cracks... I played around in photoshop very briefly on an idea... it's not final by any means...but it's an example of the direction that I'm tempted to go in...

Iain is very good at texturing. Have you had a chat with him at all? Does alsorts of fancy offsetting in Photoshop then blends all the bits. You know what I mean. The bits.
